Wilburton signal box built 1936 by Frank Steele
Built by Frank Steele who bought the local signal box in 1936 erected the frame and lined it inside and out with asbestos (whitish colour) Kitchen in living room downstairs small closed in stairs leading from kitchen into large bedroom which lead into smaller bedroom. At the back of a wash house with a small coal compartment and flush toilet at nearside and a copper in one corner. Another room against it with only entrance by a back door used for chicken food and the bee keeping equipment etc. At the front a large greenhouse for Grapes and tomatoes. The house had cold water plumbing but no electricity no bathroom but tin baths in the the washouse large sink in kitchen Oil lighting and cooking. Open fire in the living room. Porch added in later years
