Mr Leslie Lodge part (2)
Leslie’s father was an engineer and kept a small workshop. As soon as Leslie was old enough he was employed in his father’s business. With the increase in the use of automobiles, the workshop became a garage and the business eventually passed to Leslie. It is characteristic of him and he could never refuse to help those in any kind of trouble, and so he was all was always ready to go and rescue the motorist at any time of day or night.
Life was not all work. In his younger days he was very keen on cricket and a member of the football team. He also won prizes for running so you can tell he was quite athletic. In later years he took up the more leisurely sport of bowls and was always in demand and as a member of the Wilburton team. There was nothing that he enjoyed more than to watch the world bowls tournaments on the television.
Another interesting was beekeeping and here again he was often called out to go and rescue a swarm of bees from somebody’s chimney or tree. His honey was excellent and in great demand.
